Prerequisites: Former Intro to Silversmithing or J1: Cold Connections
This course is a prerequisite for using the rolling mill during Open Studio time.
Sample Materials Included.
This course introduces students to the rolling mill and its many possibilities for creating surface texture in metal. You’ll learn how to safely operate the rolling mill while experimenting with texture paper, textured metal plates, and other inventive materials to produce unique patterns.
The class also covers texturing with hammers and stamps, along with an overview of finishing techniques, including shiny and brushed surfaces. We’ll explore several types of patinas to add depth, colour, and character to your work.
Important Information:
Courses are for students 16+ years old. Younger teens may attend if accompanied by an adult who is also registered. Please reach out to us before signing up.
