Join instructor Peggy Logan to learn traditional Etching and Champleve techniques.

In French Champleve means raised plains, how these plains are achieved in Enamelling is through etching or through sweat soldering two sheets of metal together where the top one is pierced.

On the first day, three techniques of etching will be taught: PnP, Sugar lift, and Scraftio.

The second day will focus on enameling and decorative enameling techniques to apply to your etched or constructed pieces.

There will be applications of underglazes, foils, rods and painting enamels. The majority of the enameling that done will employ using a kiln.  This is a good workshop for the novice or the more experienced enamellist.

Previous jewellery making experience is required for this course, like piercing and soldering.

Please bring a black and white design to transfer on the metal to etch.

12 hrs of work time and instruction. ½ hr for lunch

What some of our students have to say:
“I loved how hands on it was and that we got to make several small, fully realized projects to take away”

“I enjoyed most that I had zero previous experience in silversmithing but walked away having accomplished professional-grade work! Empowering!”

“Loved that we learned enough various skills to be able to dream up our own creations”
