Lainey Rae

Lainey Rae has always had a deep connection to heritage craft. As a goldsmith, her work embraces traditional European technique, a devotion to quality, and enduring beauty. Her work ranges from timeless classics to wildly playful and irreverent pieces, often incorporating unexpected materials or movement. 

In 2015, Lainey began a two-year apprenticeship under master goldsmith Gerold Mueller at the Vancouver Metal Art School. After graduating in 2017, she moved to Vancouver Island and continued to hone her craft. In 2020, she registered her business and began to focus more on her jewellery, winning Best New Business that year from the Sooke Chamber of Commerce. In 2021, Lainey's work was exhibited at the Sooke Fine Arts Show and won Award of Excellence, Juror's Choice, and People's Choice awards. In 2026, Lainey’s submission to the Craft Council of BC’s Earring Show was awarded first place in the One of a Kind category.

Since 2024, Lainey has been lucky enough to pursue her work full time, crafting bespoke engagement rings and wedding sets, and focusing on heirloom redesign. Some of Lainey's more playful creations find their home with the festival crowd at venues like Shambhala and Bass Coast. Recently, Lainey completed a diploma in gemmology with the Canadian Gemmology Association, and intends to continue her education further in gemmology and jewellery appraisal.
