Prerequisites
Jewellery 2 – Fundamentals or equivalent soldering experience.

Add life and movement to your jewelry. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to design and fabricate functional hinges while creating a pair of articulated earrings. Hinges open up a world of possibilities — from subtle kinetic details to fully moving components — and the techniques covered here can easily be applied to bracelets, lockets, pendants, and other designs.

Throughout the session, we’ll focus on precision, alignment, and durability. You’ll be guided step by step through hinge construction, including layout, tube preparation, pin fitting, assembly, soldering strategies, and finishing. 

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with:
• A completed pair of hinged earrings
• A clear understanding of hinge mechanics
• Practical fabrication tips to adapt the technique to future projects

If time allows, and you already have stone-setting experience, you may incorporate a stone into your earrings.

Important Information:

• Courses are for students 16+ years old. Younger teens may attend if accompanied by an adult who is also registered. Please reach out to us before signing up.
