Join guest instructor Cheryl Jacobs in this fun and informative two-day workshop where you will learn the basics of wax carving and casting! In this 2 x 6-hour class, you will use hard wax to create your own ring or pendant and then cast it in silver. You will learn how to size your ring appropriately, to saw and carve hard wax, to define details of design in wax using carving tools and how to put a mirror finish on wax in readiness for casting.
There is also the option to make a pendant instead of a ring if you like.
Also, to be discussed, are shrinkages, spruing, and preparation for casting. Then the magic of the casting followed by the filing, polishing and finishing to wear your ring home!
No previous experience is necessary for you to come and try your hand at the art of traditional silversmithing.
